Family fun on the Mendocino Coast!
Diana Coryat and Loreto Rojas —journalists/filmmakers/teachers/podcasters/radio personalities— have been interviewing and recording oral histories of Latinos who arrived here beginning in the 1950s, many around the same time Back-to-the-Landers also discovered the coast's allure. They started families, worked in the woods, in the fisheries, in agriculture, established businesses of every kind, and added their vibrant culture (and sublime food) to the polyglot diversity of the coast. Yet Coryat and Rojas discovered that public documentation of the contributions of the Latino Community was practically nonexistent. Nuestro Norte/Our North is set to supply this missing piece of the coast's rich past.
